2012 AIPP Awards

Awards time of the year has come and gone, and we have come out pretty happy. It’s always a nerve wracking experience choosing images that we think are worthy of critique by some of the best photographers in our state and country. Earlier this year the Australian Institute of Professional Photography – AIPP – held the NSW awards, and then more recently the National Awards – APPA – or Australian Professional Photography Awards. So we entered both award competitions, came away with some good scores, some good criticism and overall a great learning experience. I guess this is why we do this every year.

These scores, and previous year’s awards have progressed Karl’s standing in the AIPP from “Member” to “Associate”.  It’s the first step in a journey that all the great Sydney Wedding Photographers that we know are travelling down. Sometimes a print will get a high score in the State Awards, only to get low scores in the Nationals. It’s frustrating at the time, but it’s the nature of judging, and highs and lows will even out over time. We’re in this for the long haul.

NSW Awards – 88 – Silver Distinction Award

National Awards – 79 – Different set of judges. They obviously didn’t see what the state judges saw. We’ve forgiven them this time :)
