I Love looking for opportunities to shut out light. It’s a way that I often choose to photograph when a bride is getting ready. I love curtains. I can turn off all the lights and close the curtains so I have as little light (or as much) as I like. I love being able to control ambient light like us. I think this kind of lighting also adds a bit of drama to a photo and adds beautiful shape and tones.
When I saw this small little window in a hutch, I knew immediately that I wanted to photograph Krystle in this light. It was very dark inside the hutch except the smallest window. This kind of directional light is also really great for bringing out the detail at the top of her dress.
I love this photo because of how feminine it feels. The tones are rich and beautiful.
